My Three Year Old

Height: 40 1/4 in
Weight: 37 lbs
Shoe Size: 11

Teagan is 3 years old now!  He is getting so big!  He is a great helper with his little brother and with things around the house.  He has a lot of energy and definately needs his outside time each day.  He loves reading books and singing and dancing.  He picks up on things really easy...he sits and thinks about it and then does it.  He loves learning!  My favorite thing about him right now is when I catch him singing a song that he heard on the radio, like the song "God's Not Dead".  He has the chorus memorized and I'll catch him singing it every so often.

Some of his favorite things are:

Color: Orange
Food: Pizza (and says the word "pizza" randomly all the time)
Show: Little Einsteins
Song: "God's Not Dead"
Toy:  McQueen cars
Movie: Cars, Cars 2
Thing to do with the family: play cars
Book:  Lightning McQueen books

Are you beginning to see a theme?

A Year of Dates: July

Our date in July took place at Rockford City Market. Unfortunatly we didn't take any pictures except the above.  The Rockford City Market has all sorts of vendors.  There are fruit and vegetable stands, local resturants have stands, along with local artisians.  They also have live music.

A Year of Dates: June

As most of you know this summer has been a HOT one.  During those majorly hot days, you know the 100 degree days, we did something crazy!  We went to a Beloit Snappers game.  It was fun and something that we don't normally get to do, but man was it hot.  Needless to say there weren't too many other people there, mainly just us and the scouts.

The Snappers played the Clinton (Iowa) LumberKings and lost 5-6.  It wasn't a real exciting game until the end when one of the Snappers coach's got ejected.

The best part of the date was that we got a lot of quality time to just sit and chat without being interrupted!

A Year of Dates: May

For our date in May we went to one of our local state parks, Rock Cut State Park. This park is really nice.  There are things to do there year round with hiking, biking, fishing, boating, swimming, picnicing, and camping to do in the Spring, Summer, Fall and snowshoeing and cross-country sking in the winter.

We chose to go on a little hike, have a picnic by the lake, and then hit up the consession stand for a little treat.

A Year of Dates: April

For the month of April we went to Nicholas Conservatory  & Gardens in Rockford.  There was a Monarch Butterfly exhibit going on this month.  They had a part of the conservatory netted off so the butterflies could fly around freely.

We were able to catch some and look at them up close.

The rest of the conservatory was beautiful too.  They had some butterfly topiaries, a fish pond, and of course other beautiful foliage.

A Year of Dates: March

Can you tell where we went? Yes that's right...we went bowling. It was my turn again to pick what we did and I wanted to do something active. It was a lot of fun!
As you can see Ryan won...in fact he won both games. I did get a few strikes in though.
My arm got tired on the second game but Ryan was able to keep his game steady! We both also were distracted by the middle schooler in the lane next to us who kept bowling game after game without stopping!
Isn't my hubby so cute?

A Year of Dates: February

For the month of February we ended up going to see "The Vow". It was the first movie we had been to since last June when we took Teagan to see "Cars 2". I liked the movie, but finding out that it was inspired by a true story not based on a true story made me curious about the real story of what happened to this couple.
Afterward we went to Starbucks and ended up running into a couple that use to go to our church and two girls I went to college with (who incidently went to the same movie we did). We hadn't seen any of these people for quite awhile so it was nice to catch up.

A Year of Dates: January

For Christmas this last year Ryan and I decided to for go the usual gift giving, partly to save money and partly because we are redoing our basement and I'd rather have that done than a whole bunch of little gifts. So I brought up the idea of planning dates for this year as our gift to each other instead. Dates or spending quality time together had not been a priority the past couple of years especially since our second child, Elijah, was born. We have definatly felt the effects of not having "US" time and now was the time to change that!
We each took six months of this year and are planning a date a month.
I was the first one to plan a date and that was for the month of January. In planning my dates I did try to be as creative as I could with things we don't normally do and try to do it cost affective! So January was Starbucks and Barnes and Noble. I thought we could get some warm drinks b/c of the cold weather and then just browse through some books.
We first went to Red Lobster for dinner. We happened to get a gift card for Red Lobster from my parents for Christmas, so dinner was on them! (Thanks mom and dad!)
After dinner we headed over to Barnes and Noble. I was looking for a book to replace one I had gotten for Christmas that I already had and then we just wanted to have a look around. As you can see in the next picture we didn't end of getting warm drinks. It was too stinkin hot in that store for that!
I did find my replacement book! I had read "Crazy Love" by Frances Chan and loved it so I thought I'd try another one of his books.
We also checked our the Bargain racks. I really wish we would've gotten the Sesame Street book. It was the history of Sesame Street and would have come in handy for Eli's birthday!
I wander what the plan will be for next month?!?!?!

Hair Cuts and Kids Meal

Eli and I got haircuts today. Doesn't he look like a big boy now?
Since Teagan sat and played quietly and nicely while we got our haircuts I told him we would get McDonalds for lunch. He asked if he could have a "Kid Meal". I said yes and then I told him that at McDonald's they're called Happy Meals. He said "No Mama it's a Kids Meal"
